The Leeds Against Knife Crime Programme is a targeted, community-led initiative designed to address the root causes of youth violence and knife crime across Leeds. The programme works directly with young people, families, schools, and community stakeholders to raise awareness, provide early intervention, and create safer communities.
Through structured workshops, one-to-one mentoring, school engagement sessions, and community campaigns, participants explore the social, emotional, and environmental factors that contribute to knife crime. The programme provides a safe and open environment where young people can have honest conversations, challenge perceptions, and build the confidence to make informed, positive life choices.
In addition, the programme promotes positive alternatives such as creative arts, sports, leadership development, and peer mentoring. These activities help young people develop life skills, resilience, and a strong sense of identity and belonging. By working collaboratively with partners, the programme also strengthens community cohesion and supports pathways into education, training, and employment.
