The Leeds Carbon Smart Living Project is an environmental awareness and behaviour-change initiative that supports communities to live more sustainably and reduce their carbon footprint. The project is delivered through a series of interactive workshops, community engagement events, and practical demonstrations.
Participants are introduced to simple, cost-effective ways to manage energy use at home, reduce waste, conserve water, and make more sustainable lifestyle choices. Key topics include energy efficiency, home insulation awareness, sustainable water management, recycling and waste reduction, and low-carbon transport options such as walking, cycling, public transport, and electric vehicles.
The project places a strong emphasis on engaging diverse and underrepresented communities, ensuring that everyone has access to relevant information and practical solutions. By empowering individuals with knowledge and tools, the project supports long-term behaviour change that benefits both households and the environment.
In addition to raising awareness, the programme creates space for discussion, shared learning, and community-led action on climate issues.
