Breaking Barriers is a holistic health and wellbeing programme that uses sport and physical activity as a tool to improve physical health, mental wellbeing, and social inclusion. The programme is designed to engage individuals who may face barriers to participation, including older adults, people with long-term health conditions, and those experiencing social isolation.
The programme delivers a range of inclusive activities such as football sessions, group fitness classes, low-impact exercise, yoga, and wellbeing workshops. All sessions are tailored to meet the needs and abilities of participants, ensuring accessibility and a supportive environment for everyone involved.
Beyond physical activity, the programme promotes mental health awareness, confidence-building, and social connection. Participants benefit from increased physical fitness, reduced stress, and improved overall wellbeing, while also building friendships and strengthening community ties.
Breaking Barriers also creates pathways for participants to become volunteers, community champions, or peer mentors, further enhancing community resilience and engagement.
